What is an upgrade?
As a member of the Mobilities family, the duration of your Contract is 24 months. From month 22 your Contract is due for renewal, allowing you to upgrade your cellphone to a brand new make and model while extending your Contract for another 24 months.
Why should I upgrade?
The main benefit of upgrading is that you receive a new cellphone absolutely FREE (depending on your tariff package and the cellphone or device chosen). When upgrading, you retain your cellphone number, and simply continue with your Contract – no credit checks are needed!

How do I know if I am eligible for an upgrade?
Simply SMS ‘UG’ to 082 812 3000 from your Vodacom cellphone

Will I be charged to upgrade?
There are a range of cellphones available for FREE on every tariff package. In the event you select a cellphone which is not covered by your tariff package, you will be required to pay in.
A R150 upgrade administration fee is applicable.

How do I know which upgrade offer is best for me?
Simply contact our Upgrades Department on 082 812 3000 or come in to Mobilities, and a friendly agent will advise you on cellphone and tariff package options that best suits your needs.
Do I need to be registered for RICA before I can upgrade my contract?
Yes, you can only upgrade a line which is registered for RICA.
To check if your SIM card is RICA registered, simply SMS 'RICA' to 31050. You can register for RICA when you upgrade your contract.
Simply bring with you or email the following:
- Your ID Document* or Passport
- Proof of residence
- The last four digits of your SIM
*A driver's licence is NOT accepted as proof of identity.
Once I have done my upgrade, when will I receive my cellphone?
When upgrading your new cellphone will be delivered to your door within 3 to 7 working days, dependent on stock availability.
